Research Scientist In Mesoscale Air-Sea Interactions

Research Scientist In Mesoscale Air-Sea Interactions

15 April 2024

The University of Reading is seeking to employ a Senior Research Scientist for the EERIE project, funded by Horizon Europe, and, for UK partners, by UKRI. The post holder will be joining the Global High Resolution Climate Modelling (HRCM) programme, a key aspect of strategic research developed at the National Centre for Atmospheric Science in Reading and at the Met Office Hadley Centre.

Full time, fixed term post for up to 36 months.

The post holder’s research will advance our understanding of how the ocean mesoscale interacts with the deep troposphere, focussing on the mechanisms that emerge in eddy-rich models, linking the atmosphere and ocean. The innovation and ambition of the research comprise upscale effects: the umbrella objective in EERIE is the discovery and characterisation of how air-sea coupling at the mesoscale affects global climate variability.

Closing date: 5 June 2024.
